Following the successful operation of the 90T XT Winch System onboard Odfjell Drilling rig Deepsea Nordkapp, SEAONICS has delivered two additional winches to further strengthen the rig’s lifting and handling capabilities.

The new 6T and 12T winches are integrated directly into the existing XT Winch System and are designed to support complex lifting operations with high precision and operational flexibility. Together with the 90T XT winch, all three winches are certified for lifting operations. While both winches are fully capable of performing independent lifting operations, their primary function is to operate as guidewire winches during XT lifting operations.

Designed with deck space limitations in mind, the new winches provide a compact and cost-efficient solution. By integrating the systems into the existing setup onboard, we have enabled expanded operational capability while minimizing additional footprint and complexity for the client.
Both winches are fully electric and equipped with Active Heave Compensation (AHC) and Constant Tension (CT) functionality. They are delivered with 600-meter wire length to match the main 90T XT winch system and ensure seamless operational interaction between the systems.
In addition, all three winches can be operated directly from the ROV control room, enabling closer coordination between operators, improving communication during critical operations, and contributing to a more robust and safer working environment.
