The PM Trawl Winch uses permanent magnet motors connected directly to the drum, eliminating the need for a gearbox and reducing the risk of mechanical failures. With a low gear ratio and low inertia, the PM motor provides a control and stability on all wire layers which is crucial for efficient trawling. The low inertia of PM motors also increases speed and minimizes tension peaks in the wire, reducing the risk of damage if the trawl snags on the seabed. The Seaonics PM Trawl Winch is compact and lighter than traditional trawl winches, making them easier to install and handle.
