Different projects and vessels demand different solutions. While traditional systems like the A-frame type offer a robust, permanent installation, some clients require more flexibility and a reduced footprint on board. Swing Out LARS is designed to respond to that need.

The swing out system rotates the ROV over the vessel’s side before launch and recovery. This approach saves valuable deck and hangar space, while maintaining the safety and reliability we are committed to provide our clients.

Compact, flexible, and built for fast mobilization

Delivered as a complete and self-contained unit, the Swing Out LARS support efficient installation and operation. It gives the freedom to adapt the vessel setup without compromising on performance.

Key benefits include:

  • Reduced footprint on board
  • Flexibility to adapt to multiple vessel types and projects
  • A specialized solution that complements SEAONICS’ trusted LARS portfolio
  • Fast and efficient mobilization

The system is also well-suited for vessels with deck space running along the ships longitude, as anchor handlers and cable laying vessels doing stern operations.

“We continuously develop new solutions that make our clients’ work easier and more efficient. Swing Out LARS is a strong example of how we combine innovation with practical needs. It gives flexibility, reduced footprint, and operational reliability – and we’re proud to bring it to the market,” says Stig Espeseth, CTO at SEAONICS.

New contract with VARD and DFO

We’re happy to share that we have signed our first contract for this solution with DFO.

This version of the system is delivered as a complete, ready-to-go frame with minimal mechanical and electrical interfaces. That makes it possible to mobilize quickly and move the system between vessels in their fleet whenever ROV services are required. For DFO, this means that they can optimize use across 3-4vessels, depending on operational needs.

“We are pleased to have placed this order for the modular LARS with SEAONICS. The LARS system will allow us to deploy work class ROV capability at short notice across our cable laying vessels, subsea construction vessels and commissioning service operations vessels and be neatly integrated into all the vessels we have ordered at VARD from delivery, allowing us to provide flexible solutions towards our customers,” says Ben Darrington, Chief Operating Officer at DFO.

The contract further strengthens SEAONICS’ position as a leading provider of advanced handling solutions, and we are excited to support the continued development of cutting-edge offshore capabilities.

"We are proud to have been selected to deliver our next generation launch and recovery system for this project. This order represents a strong assessment of our technology and our commitment to enabling safer, more efficient offshore operations," says Sales Manager at SEAONICS, Lars Haahjem.
