Ocean Prawns choose Seaonics for new 55-ton triple trawl package
We are proud to announce that the Ocean Prawns have chosen Seaonics to deliver a 55-ton Triple trawl winch system to their new shrimp trawler.
This new trawler is a partnership vessel between the two seafood companies Clearwater Seafoods (Canada) and Ocean Prawns (Denmark). The newbuilding is a ST-119 design and will be completed in end of 2022 in Tersan Shipyard.
The trawler is a state-of-the-art factory trawler, setting a new standard for these trawlers from a technical, safety and comfort perspective. The equipment package is developed in a close collaboration between Seaonics and the owner to ensure efficient vessel operations.
Equipment package
The vessel will be equipped with four pm-trawl winches, each with three pm motors. This three-engine solution gives the vessel strong capabilities for both demersal and shrimp trawling. The system also includes Seaonics SeaBrief for remote system monitoring and communication. In this project we are continuing the development of our trawl packages, based on discussion with end-users and and experience from our more than 40-trawl systems. We look forward to work with Ocean Prawns on this project and excited to see the finished vessel.
Working with pioneers
Seaonics have a tradition for working with pioneers this continues with this project as it is exactly 20- years ago Ocean Prawns and Kristian Jensen ordered the first vessel in the world equipped with electric AC- driven winches from the local company Brødr. Rogne AS, at that time lead by our now Head of Sales Jan Kjærstad. This was the first electric system and a game changer in the industry, as the majority was hydraulic - today its opposite!
